What an Odd Looking Bird!

What is wrong with this picture?

Here is our little thief in the bird feeder. We have been at this house for almost two years, and it is only in the last few months that the squirrels have even seemed interested in the bird feeders. This was a huge problem at our last house, Eric has tried everything to keep them out and nothing works, well not filling up the feeders is an option but then the birds loose out on that one.

The accomplice in the crime... I think he was suppose to be the look out for the crazy lady yelling, "Shew! " But he was distracted by all the seed on the ground.

Here is sweet Ginger the Groundhog, who came out to visit our backyard twice yesterday, the clovers are especially tasty this week. For some reason I was really shaky and slow when taking these picture, so you will have to overlook that. I missed the shot of her chasing two butterflies! Not sure if she was just playing around or wanted a bit of protein with her meal.

She stood on her hind legs an extremely long time, just looking around, not even eating - so long in fact that I had time to go get my camera, get set up which takes me longer than most people, and she kept standing, I guess waiting on the slow lady to find her in the view finder, zoom in, and focus, and finally get a fuzzy shot.

This was a treat Sunday morning for us, the deer have not come around our place in a very long time, the vacant house next to us had the septic alarm ringing constantly (very annoying). I want to get a salt lick (I think that is what its called - big block of salt?) for the deer but Eric says no way, we would have every deer in the county in our backyard - oh well. The little family stayed for awhile, then strolled into the woods behind the house for greener pastures.

Hello, found your weblog last night while looking for images on lapbooking.

Your blog today of the groundhog looks as if you live out in the wilderness.

We live in a rural area, at times it does feel like the wilderness! At our last house we had a bear to stroll up the drive way...
